Eastbourne Rambling Club was founded in 1937.   At that time, the cost of an annual subscription was 2 shillings (10p) and the first ramble attracted eight walkers.   During the Second World War rambles were severely disrupted and not helped by the lack of raincoats and heavy shoes due to rationing.

Today’s membership stands at 200 and over the years we have tramped over much of Sussex, Kent and Surrey, plus some of England’s long distance footpaths and have enjoyed walking holidays in such places as Cornwall, Derbyshire and Wales, including Guernsey, Austria and Germany.

The Club’s social programme includes coach outings to places of interest, visits to private gardens, and an annual New Year’s Day lunch gathering.
